addicted
After a long creative hiatus, I’m finally “making stuff” again. I know, I know, I work at a presumably creative profession, but 99% of the time I’m solving visual problems for a client (hello Visa!), or figuring out the best way to get the client’s message from them to you. Most of the time, I have no latitude to be creative at all. There’s no time for that. I simply reach into my bag of tricks and use what I know will work. If I have a need to do art with a capital A, I find some other channel.
I’ve a new love affair with Flickr.com which has rekindled my love for photography. Maybe it’s more of an addiction, as I find myself toking off the Flickr crack pipe several times a day. Ultimately, it all comes down to playing with Photoshop, and more recently, Lightroom, which has this magical ability — honest, it’s magic! — to transform my crappier shots taken with a point-and-shoot to worthier photographs. Not good, necessarily, but improved.
My latest creative foray is a series of botanical images, in square format, describing plants, herbs, fruits, and vegetables. Titled The Compleat Herbal, it’s a chance to play with textures and layers and typography.
